Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actress who is known for her role as the spirited lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. The actress is known under her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. While growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. In a Maryland high school competition during her first years of education she received the award for the most outstanding actress. She earned her acting degree from the New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company', as well as on stage. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following a brief time at the University. The audition was held for the role in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. Her performance was lauded for the 92 shows which she was a part of. The play won her an award in 2002, which was awarded to the Best Production of the Year by Canadian critics. The conservatory at Stratford accepts eight men as well as four females and a handful of other people for a 20 weeks crash course. Contractor's place in the following play season was secured and she won the role as Hermia.
