Between 2005 and 2006, she played Tanis McGtaggart, a teen in the YTV Teen series 15/Love alongside actress Meaghan Rath. Between 2006 and the year 2008, Crew played Carrie Miller on the CTV drama Whistler and received the first Leo award. Crew made her acting debut in Final Destination 3 in 2006. This was the third film in the Final Destination movie series. The role she played was Julie Christensen as the younger sister of Wendy as the protagonist of the movie. Crew had originally auditioned to play Erin Ulmer, while Alexz auditioned for Julie. But they switched roles before filming. Though critics gave this film mixed reviews, the movie was a massive commercial hit. It earned over $117 millions at the worldwide box office. It also featured her in the role of a student at high school in the romantic comedy John Tucker Must Die, which was negatively received.
